
Summer is upon us, and as I lace up my running shoes I know for a fact that there is a mindset that has prohibited me from accomplishing my goals in the past, and I think you too.
Have you heard of the all-or-nothing mindset?
It’s the idea that there is no in-between, and you begin to think in extremes. In my case, if I had only 30 minutes to run, I didn’t think it was possible at all to get a good workout in and I wouldn’t run at all! I would go a few days without exercising because I just “didn’t have enough time.”
The reality is that a 30 minute run is better than no run at all. Or maybe in your case, if you make one bad food choice today, you might think that the day is over and you might as well eat all-the-things.
And what about those exercises that your physical therapist gave you? You might think that if you don’t have a certain amount of time to complete them, you might as well just the skip the day when really– one exercise done is better than none at all!
You see where we’re going?
The truth is that any positive step or change, is still a positive step in achieving your goal! Did you know that just 15 minutes a day is over 90 hours a year? Imagine the type of positive change you can make in just 15 minutes a day!
Here’s to abolishing the *silly* mindset of all-or-nothing, and to accomplishing your goal, one step at a time!
