Decades of care
Dr. Kevin Jones opened Active Physical Therapy in 2010 in Hilliard, Ohio, with a mission to provide personalized, hands-on, and attentive care to every patient. Over the past 10 years, we’ve expanded our operations to Worthington, Ohio, and Newport, Kentucky. Each client we see receives a customized treatment plan, and the Active Physical Therapy team works hard to remain as accessible and available as possible to accept new patients, see existing patients, and welcome returning patients to our clinics.
About Our Team
Owner, Physical Therapist
Dr. Jones is a board certified clinical specialist in orthopedics and certified strength and conditioning specialist.
In his free-time, Dr. Jones enjoys spending time with his wife and chasing around his two sons and daughter.
Spencer attended The Ohio State University where he received his Doctor of Physical therapy degree. He completed his undergraduate work at Baldwin Wallace University while also competing in NCAA baseball.
During his schooling and experience with high school and collegiate athletics, Spencer has developed special interests in treating the overhead athlete and individuals who live an active lifestyle. Spencer also enjoys empowering previously inactive individuals with the tools to take up an active lifestyle of their own. Spencer plans to pursue an Orthopedic Clinical Specialization in the future to promote ongoing professional development.
Spencer’s rehabilitation approach is rooted in applying evidence-based strength and conditioning principles and educating patients in a way that allows them to take control of their own rehab journey. Spencer enjoys applying manual therapy interventions for short term improvements in pain, but always encourages you to follow it up with a solid training session.
Spencer is from Bellaire, OH but currently lives in Columbus with his wife and two dalmatians. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys spending time on the water fishing, getting together with friends & family, working out, and exploring Columbus with his wife.
Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT)/PCC
Danielle received her Massage Therapy License after attending Columbus State Community College. She found love for the healing power of touch after witnessing its effects on her loved ones. As a new member of the Active team, Danielle is excited to work alongside experienced physical therapists while applying techniques to relieve pain and encourage relaxation. She also assists the office team to ensure that patients have a positive experience from day one to the end!
When she isn’t studying new ways to address tight muscles, she enjoys traveling, ministry and dancing!
John received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to beginning graduate school, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied Sciences degree from Youngstown State University where he studied Exercise Science and played ACHA Division 1 Ice Hockey.
In order to further himself as a clinician, he has also obtained board certification as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist and is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. His treatment philosophy involves evaluating each person and injury as a unique experience and identifying ways to use movement and exercise to meet each patient’s goals.
During his career, John has worked primarily in the outpatient private practice setting and specializes in the treatment of an athletic population with emphasis on hip pathology and the management of the ice hockey athlete. Due to these interests, he has developed and teaches courses nationally specific to these two topics in order to improve appropriate conservative and post-operative management of The Athlete’s Hip and The Ice Hockey Athlete.
John is originally from Powell, Ohio and currently lives in Columbus with his wife and two furry children. He grew up playing hockey in the CCYHA, EYHA, and Jr. Blue Jackets organizations and is still active in the hockey community.
Kat is the Office Manager. When Kat started working for Active Physical Therapy in 2012, she developed a passion for helping people after really diving deep into the flawed health care system after graduating with a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science. She saw how many health care clinics view patients as a number rather than a real person with real goals, and since then has been on a mission to make Active PT a clinic like none other!
Kat thrives on celebrating the success of Active PT’s patients and being an advocate for them in every step of the process. From the first phone call to wrestling with insurance companies if need be, Kat is passionate about doing the heavy lifting so that the patient doesn’t have to.
In her free time, Kat enjoys hiking, running, lifting, going to the Potters House church and calligraphy! Kat lives in Hilliard with her husband, and two kids.
